Summary

Mona is a local-first productivity app. Your tasks, habits, projects, ideas, focus sessions, and settings are stored on your device. Steel Claw Studios LLC does not operate servers that collect your content, does not use analytics or advertising SDKs, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not sell or share your personal data.


Information we do and don't collect

We do not collect personal data on our own servers. Mona has no account system and no login. Your data stays on your device and, where noted below, in your own iCloud account — infrastructure operated by Apple that we cannot access.

Mona uses the following device capabilities, only with your permission, and only on your device:

  • Calendar (Apple Calendar / EventKit). If you enable Calendar sync, Mona reads and writes events in your Apple Calendar so they appear in both places. This data stays on your device and in your own calendar accounts; we never receive it.
  • Screen Time / Family Controls. If you use focus app-blocking, the apps you choose to block are represented as opaque tokens provided by Apple and stored only on your device. We cannot see, and never receive, which apps you select.
  • Notifications. Mona schedules local notifications on your device for reminders. No notification content is sent to us.
  • Photos. Project images are chosen through Apple's system photo picker and stored on your device. We do not access your photo library directly.
  • iCloud (companion progress). Your companion's experience level is mirrored to your personal iCloud account using Apple's key-value storage, so it survives reinstalling the app and syncs across your devices. This is a single number tied to your iCloud account; it is never transmitted to us, and if you are not signed in to iCloud this feature simply does nothing.
  • Siri & Shortcuts. If you use Mona's Siri shortcuts (like adding a task by voice), the request is processed on your device through Apple's App Intents. We do not receive your Siri requests.


Subscriptions (Mona Pro)

Mona Pro subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles your payment information; we never receive your payment details. Apple may provide us aggregated, anonymized sales and subscription reporting. Subscription management (including cancellation) is handled in your App Store account settings.


Analytics, tracking, and third parties

Mona contains no analytics, no advertising, no third-party tracking SDKs, and no device-identifier collection. We do not engage in tracking as defined by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework.


Data retention and deletion

Because your data lives on your device, you control it:

  • Use Settings → Privacy → Delete All Data in Mona to erase your Mona content from the device, including the companion progress mirrored to your iCloud key-value storage.
  • Deleting the app removes its on-device data.
  • Your device and iCloud backups are governed by Apple's terms and your own device settings.

Your rights

Since we hold no copy of your data, requests to access, correct, or delete your information are fulfilled directly by you on your own device using the tools above. If you have questions about how a specific feature handles data, contact us and we'll explain exactly what it does.


Children's privacy

Mona is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.


Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
